The 2013 Camaro ZL1 - the most powerful Chevrolet Camaro of all time - has garnered the coveted 2012 Muscle Car of the Year Award from two of the region’s leading automotive publications, Evo Middle East and Wheels Middle East. Both awards were presented to John Stadwick, the President and Managing Director of General Motors Middle East Operations early this month.
The 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 first hit Middle Eastern showrooms in late 2012, earning high praise across the industry. The ZL1 is powered by a 6.2L supercharged engine producing 580 horsepower and 754 Nm, with a top speed of 296 km/h. The vehicle can also accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 km/h) in a blistering 3.9 seconds.
It is precisely these innovative features that won it the prestigious 2012 Muscle Car of The Year Award from two top auto publications. Indeed, the voting jury at Evo Magazine Middle East – a monthly publication entirely dedicated to driving enthusiasts – and the highly-acclaimed Wheels Magazine recognized the Camaro ZL1’s high performance engineering, impressive track prowess and groundbreaking design, all of which set it apart as a truly iconic muscle car.
“We are honored to accept the esteemed Muscle Car of the Year Awards for the Camaro ZL1,” said Stadwick. “Such recognition bears testament to the Chevrolet model’s unparalleled value.
The Camaro is an ensemble of power, comfort and technology, offering great value for money that cannot be matched by our competitors. These industry accolades – from two pioneering automotive publications – further cement Chevrolet Camaro’s position as a leader in the sports car market.”
Evo Middle East is a monthly magazine for car enthusiasts, covering the latest and greatest vehicles in the GCC market. It has presented its annual Car of the Year Awards to the top models in various segments, which were selected by the jury consisted of Evo editorial team.
The highly-acclaimed Wheels Car of the Year Awards started in 2010. The winning cars are selected by the Wheels editorial team in 16 segments.
The Chevrolet Camaro was also named Best Muscle Car in 2009, 2010 and 2011 – by leading automotive publications. In February 2012, Evo Middle East selected the Chevrolet Camaro Convertible as the Muscle Car of the Year. The vehicle won the ‘Best Affordable Convertible Sports Car 2012’ co-hosted by Automobile magazine and Future TV in May 2012.
