Every year, Car and Driver staffers gather a group of the best new cars currently on sale, spend a week driving them on the road and track and release their annual “10Best” list. These 10 cars offer the highest quality overall driving experience for the best value in their respected segments and for the first time since 2011, there is more than one General Motors offering on the list.
It would’ve been silly for C&D not to include the 2014 Corvette Stingray in its 10Best list, a car that’s been receiving no shortage of awards lately, you’d think the Corvette engineers hypnotized the automotive media into loving it. C&D loved the C7’s steering feedback and $51,995 base price, but most of all, its ability to put a smile on your face every time you drive it.
The Cadillac CTS is a reoccurring name on the 10Best list, but for the first time in a while, a non-V model has earned a spot. According to C&D, the 2014 CTS “is now unequivocally the best-handling car in the mid-size luxury segment.” Which sounds like it would be enough to earn it a spot on the list even if the rest of the car wasn’t improved massively over the previous gen, which it is.
