Considering the rave reviews that the Cadillac ATS has received in sedan form, it’s only sensible that it would spawn multiple variants, such as a coupe, for instance. That being the case, Edmunds has broken the story that the next addition to the Cadillac family will bow at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in about a month and a half from now. Sure it might be lacking a pair of doors and a few pounds, but it reportedly won’t lose any of the mechanical goods in the door-reduction process.
That means that the torquey 2.0L inline-four turbo and the rev happy 3.6L V6 will both be found in the 2015 ATS Coupe, along with Magnetic Ride Control, an optional manual transmission, and other goodies. Also, the lines of the ATS Coupe are expected to be more refined and less edgy than what we see with the late-model CTS Coupe.
Interestingly enough, German rivals to the ATS offer more than just coupe variants, such as wagon, sedan, coupe, and even convertible forms. What does this mean for Cadillac? Well, there’s a lot of work to do in filling the more important holes in the product portfolio, and product developers are currently prioritizing what needs to get done first, like an ATS-V, for instance.
